Biography

Nick Fyffe plays the bass. He also writes and produces music and occasionally MD’s bands.

From an early age, Nick wanted to be a professional drummer. He would play drums after shows in the theatres where his father worked as keyboard player and musical director.

Later, as early Hip-Hop was emerging from the States, Nick became fascinated with his father's analog synthesisers and acquired a small collection of drum machines which he would spend hours programming.

At the age of thirteen, Nick discovered Jimi Hendrix through his older half brother and decided he would grow his hair as big as possible and began playing guitar. Being naturally left-handed but without a left handed instrument, Nick taught himself to play the "wrong" way round.

He switched to playing bass several years later after listening to the music of Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament, and Prince

Here ensued a period of exploring other styles of music from Motown and Jazz, to Rock and Reggae and playing any gigs he could. He joined local Reading band “Funk Assembly” and began co-running the 11-piece band, organizing and promoting gigs.

Nick soon made the move to London and, in 1998, his big break came when he auditioned for Jamiroquai and got the job. Here followed a five year period of international touring, two studio albums (“Synkronized” and “A Funk Oddysey”) and a wealth of experience.

Nick has since gone on to record and perform with a diverse range of artists including Hard-fi, Shapeshifters,Pixie Lott, Tom Baxter, Bodyrockers, Kid British, David Jordan, TheNewNo2 and Erik Hassle.

The Sunflower Jam is an annual charity event that Nick has been involved in since it’s conception in 2006. At these events he has performed with legendary names, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Bruce Dickinson, Suggs, Gary Brooker, Jon Lord, Ian Paice and others.

Nick is currently based near London. He welcomes all offers of work
